Ms. Tomar has been practicing estate planning in Hawaii since 1981 and has
owned her own estate planning law firm since 1987. She prepares Wills, Living
Trusts, Codicils to Wills, Amendments to Trust, Durable Powers of Attorney
and Medical Directives. She also practices real estate law, primarily conveyancing
(Deeds.) During this time she has served over 3,000 clients.
Ms. Tomar is a member of the Hawaii State Bar, the Hawaii Board of Realtors,
and is also a member of the Hawaii Estate Plan Council. She has been included
in the latest printing of Prominent People of Hawaii. Ms. Tomar has published "Probate
Administration in Hawaii", NBI Institute.
Ms. Tomar has also been a licensed realtor since 1988. She is the Principal Broker of Tomar Realty, LLC, in Kailua Hawaii. She also is a Foreclosure
Commissioner, appointed by the First Circuit Court.
Raised in Honolulu, Ms. Tomar attended both public and private school in
Hawaii, and graduated from St. Andrew's Priory in 1969 *. In 1976 she received
her B. A. in Political Science from the University of Hawaii, Manoa, and
her Juris Doctor in 1980 from Western New England College School of Law,
located in Springfield, Massachusetts.
She has been a frequent speaker before professional and civic groups and
has been a guest lecturer on estate planning with the University of Hawaii
Community College System, the Life Foundation of Hawaii and Kamehameha Schools.
Ms. Tomar is the immediate past President of the Friends of the Boettcher Estate.
She is a former President of the Kailua Elementary School P.T.S.A, former Board
member of the Hawaii State P.T.S.A, and was chosen as a Hawaii “Civic
Entrepreneur” under the Pew Charitable Trust. She was the President of
the Coconut Grove Community Association and is a Sustaining member of the Junior
League of Honolulu. She is on the Advisory Committee of the Windward Boys Club and Girls Club.
Ms. Tomar is married, has two children and three dogs. She lives in Kailua
and in her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, cooking,
reading and playing tennis.
* Interesting side note: Out of the forty graduates in her high school
class, there are several attorneys, including Beverly Hiramatsu and former President of the Hawaii Senate and current U.S. Representative of the House for the 1st District, Hawaii, Colleen Hanabusa.
